Cookie Policy
Last updated: 1 July 2026
This page explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on this website, what each one is for, how long it lasts, and how you can control them.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies — local storage, pixels and tracking scripts — work the same way in practice. They let a site remember your choices, understand how it is being used, and measure the performance of advertising.
2. Your choice
In line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and the UK GDPR, we set only strictly necessary storage until you tell us otherwise. Analytics and advertising technologies are activated only after you select "Accept all" in our cookie banner. Choosing "Essential only" keeps them switched off, and the site continues to work normally.
You can change your decision at any time by clearing this website's cookies and site data in your browser settings and then reloading the page — the banner will appear again.
3. Cookies we use
| Name | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| disgrdisum-cookie-consent | Strictly necessary (local storage) | Remembers the choice you made in the cookie banner so it is not shown again. | Until you clear your browser storage |
| Session / load-balancing identifiers | Strictly necessary | Keeps the site secure and routes your request to a working server. | Session |
| Analytics identifiers | Analytics (consent required) | Counts visits, measures which articles are read and how far readers scroll, in aggregate. | Up to 13 months |
| Campaign / click identifiers | Advertising (consent required) | Records which campaign or partner sent you here so a resulting purchase can be attributed and campaigns optimised. | Up to 90 days |
| Partner measurement pixels | Advertising (consent required) | Set by native advertising and affiliate partners to measure conversions from their placements. | Up to 13 months |
Exact cookie names set by third parties can change when those providers update their products. We review this table periodically.
4. Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by companies other than us, including analytics providers, native advertising networks such as Outbrain and Taboola, and affiliate networks. We do not control these cookies. Where a third party acts as an independent controller, their own privacy and cookie notices apply, and you can usually opt out through their websites or through industry tools such as the Your Online Choices platform.
5. Managing cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, and most offer a "do not track" or tracking-prevention setting:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Blocking all cookies may stop parts of this or other websites from working as intended.
6. More information
